With so many great uses for compressed air,
it can be easy to overlook a basic fact:
Compressed air is a manufactured product. 
Making it costs money, and you pay for all the
compressed air you produce, even air blown off
used to regulate pressure.  Anything that prevents waste
saves you money.

Many people are surprised to learn that the biggest single cost in making compressed air is not the compressor.  It's energy.  The annual cost for electrical power on a fully loaded compressor often equals the purchase price of the compressor itself.  And over the working life of a typical compressed air system, 75% of the total cost to own and operate a compressed air system is energy.   

Ideally, businesses that use compressed air would minimize cost by producing only the volume of compressed air required for their operation, but compressed air systems are usually oversized for the application they support.  That is, they produce the maximum amount that may be needed to rather than the actual amount that is needed at any given time.  That's not very efficient.

If you plan on shutting down your compressed air equipment for an extended amount of time please follow these guidelines:
- Follow the manufacturers recommendations.  If not available please follow these minimal procedures:
- If water cooled drain all coolant
- Clean and drain all the moisture trap lines (compressor, dryer, filters)
- Block off all ductwork to minimize freezing air getting into compressor
- If your equipment is off for more than one year please call our service center for the procedures of turning it back on.
